Mirena wont cause a false negative pregnancy test. A false pregnancy test can occur if there is not enough HCG, the chemical that is detected by a test during pregnancy, in the urine. If you tested the AM s first void, however, this should not be the case if you are indeed pregnant. It is rare to get pregnancies with Mirena but occasionally ectopic pregnancies occur. Mirena itself secretes hormones that can mimic pregnancy-nausea, breast tenderness, bloating etc. If you are having problems, I suggest you make an appt to see the provider who inserted the Mirena. If you have an ectopic pregnancy, it must be taken care of immediately. If you have a uterine pregnancy, Mirena must be removed and unforunately, removal can also cause spontaneous abortion of the pregnancy. See your provider as soon as possible. Mirena is only good for 5 years anyway and you are close to either needing a new one inserted or to think about a different form of birth control. You can get all taken care of at once when you see your provider. Votes: +0 Comment Vote up Report DZ DzooBaby 6 Jul 2012

If you tested the mornings first void and the test was negative, it is unlikely that you are pregnant. You are more likely to be having some side effects from Mirena s hormones. Add your Comment Search for questions
