Ectopic Pregnancy

Anyone pregnant after ectopic? - October 2011 Babies - WhatToExpect.com

Ectopics are pretty rare so I know this is a long shot but wondering if anyone else on here is pregnant after an ectpoic. This past September I found out I had an ectopic pregnancy. They gave me methotrexate shots but a week later my tube ruptured anyway. I ended up losing 50% of my blood from internal bleeding, had to have the whole left tube and a small piece of uterus removed. Also had to have a blood transfusion and was in the hospital for 3 days with kind of a rough recovery after that. Needless to say it was pretty awful. Doc said we could start trying again after 3 periods. My third period was Jan 5th and mentally I wasn’t really ready to start trying again. I read a lot that the chances of getting pregnant after ectopic are fairly low each month plus during the ultrasounds before surgery they found cysts on my “good” side. We weren’t trying to prevent getting pregnant but I thought for sure we would end up needing infertility help.Well, I guess I was wrong. I got a BFP yesterday and I am kind of freaking out. I was not expecting that at all. I wasn’t even taking prenatals. I am 5 weeks today and I really want to be happy about this but all I can think now is that it’s another ectopic. Every little twinge on my right side makes me panic. I don’t think I can go through an ectopic again. I know there is nothing I can do until I go to the Doc on Monday but venting here has helped. Hoping for the best!

I've never had an ectopic but can imagine how scary that must have been. It sounds like you went through a lot and I'm sorry for your loss (baby and tube). That being said I too am anxious bc my son was stillborn in nov at almost 36 weeks. We where not trying and we where expecting to have to do fertility treatments again (1st time took us 4 1/2 years) but surprise!!!! Here I am! I'm excited but every little thing makes me nervous as well. Hang in there! Thinking about and praying for you! And welcome!!Twila I've never had an ectopic but can imagine how scary that must have been. It sounds like you went through a lot and I'm sorry for your loss (baby and tube). Hi Jessy...my name is Stephanie and I had an ectopic in October. Yes, it was about the worst thing I have ever experienced. I kept my tube, but I also had the methotrexate, which was horrible. My levels dropped so slowly and I was in a lot of pain. We were planning to TTC in Feb, but surprise! I am 6w3d and due Oct 3. We had an ultrasound on Monday and got to see that the pregnancy is in my uterus and even saw a heartbeat!Your appt Monday will put your mind at ease. I totally understand what you are going through. I was pretty scared, and counted down each day I made it past where I started bleeding last time. I tried to make a note of everything that felt different this time to reassure myself, but every twinge freaked me out. And even though this pregnancy is in my uterus, I get LOTS of twinges, and most are off to one side. So try to relax, it is probably just your uterus starting to stretch. My OB said it is normal. The hardest thing for me was that we had no explanation for why the ectopic happened, so I had no idea how likely it was to occur again. But, as it turns out, it is definitely possible to have a uterine pregnancy right after an ectopic...good luck and keep me posted!Steph Hi Jessy...my name is Stephanie and I had an ectopic in October. Hi Jessy, I too have had an ectopic, two actually and both were on my right side, once in Sept/09 and again in Aug/10. I actually had to take clomid to conceive this LO as I wasn t O ing on my good side. I also had to have major surgery, both times, but the first time they saved my tube. When I had the second one on the same side they took the tube and a small piece of my uterus. It was awful. I agree with the PP, definitely demand an early U/S, your HCG needs to be around 1500 before you can see the LO on U/S though. I had mine today at 6w exactly and baby is in my uterus and has a nice strong HB. GL and try to stay positive! I can totally relate.  I had an ectopic in May 2010, and they took my tube.  I ended up being in the hospital 2 weeks and another 10 days resting at home after that.  Needless to say, it was horrible and I felt so much guilt over losing my pregnancy, since I felt like it was my fault that it got stuck in the tube.Fast forward to now, I am about 6 weeks.  As soon as I got my BFP at 4 weeks, I was freaking out about it being ectopic again.  I got an US at 4 weeks and again at 5 weeks.  Four weeks just showed that my edometrium was thickening up and at 5 weeks, we saw the gestational sac.  That relaxed me quite a bit, because at least I knew it wasn t ectopic. I will have my next US in one more weeks, so I am just praying that we see the heart beat.Good luck and get that ultrasound so that you can relax. I have not had an ectopic but am very afraid of having one. I am about 4.5 weeks pregnant (have an u/s in 1 wk) with my first child and I mostly feel stuff on my left side. Like something is there . It s not painful. The thing is, I ve had this feeling for the whole 3 months since going off of the pill and TTC. I had two perfectly regular cycles with AF before conceiving on the 3rd cycle. It has intensified with pregnancy. It also used to intensify during ovulation. So I dont see how it could be ectopic if I ve had the feeling prior to being pregnant, but of course I am still worried! What were the pains like during an ectopic? Is it pain or just a feeling? Did you bleed? If so how soon?  If this is too personal or painful I completely understand.  Thank you I have not had an ectopic but am very afraid of having one.
